Social Crisis Managment and the Expanding Role of the Information Professional -- Lyrasis In-Person
Description:
Crisis situations arise in all types of libraries and impact staff and users. Information professionals must be prepared to meet the social, psychological, medical and legal situations caused by drug overdoses, sexual assault, homelessness, neglect and mental illness. Students will explore the issues and possible resolutions to social crisis management.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this class, students will be able to:
- Discuss the ways in which social issues impact the safety of staff and users.
- Investigate and identify the social, psychological, medical and legal resources that can be utilized to resolve crisis situations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical issues surrounding these social issues.
- Learn ways to stay healthy and recover in these types of situations.
