Want to engage school-age kids through exciting STEAM programming in your library but don’t know where to start? Three recipients of the Strengthening Communities Through Libraries grant are ready to share tips and tricks for partnering with others, selecting materials, outreach to build participation, measuring outcomes, and documenting success. Many libraries struggle with STEAM programming; this webinar will give you the confidence to start tomorrow.

Learning Outcomes

• Participants will be able to implement lo-tech or high-tech STEAM programming at their library.
• Participants will be able to describe three possible ways to partner with other organizations for their programming.
• Participants will be able to illustrate the outcomes of their successful STEAM programming to stakeholders.

This webinar will be taught by five people representing three different libraries:

Maryann Brickey, MLS, is a Children’s Librarian and Branch Manager with Live Oak Public Libraries in Savannah, Georgia where she lives with her rescue dog Dolly Parton. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Missouri, and completed her MLIS at the School for Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign in May of 2013. She has been working in public libraries ever since.

Krystal Lancaster, MLS, is the County Librarian at Camden County Public Library in northeastern North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from North Carolina State University and a Master’s degree in Library Science from North Carolina Central University. She has worked inpublic libraries for the past ten years, three of those as a children’s librarian.

Melissa Harrison, MLS, is the Media Coordinator for Weeksville Elementary School in northeastern North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Christopher Newport University and a Master’s in Library Science with a School Media concentration from East Carolina University. Melissa worked as a children’s librarian for two years in the public library and became a Media Coordinator this past Fall.

Gayle Belcher is the Young Adult & New Technology Librarian for the Aldrich Public Library in Barre, Vermont. She received her Master’s in Information Science from the University of North Texas and has been working in libraries since 2010.

Ian Gauthier is a Children’s Librarian for the Aldrich Public Library in Barre, Vermont. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Saint Michael’s College and a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from SUNY Albany. He has been working in libraries for five years
